In June, a group of employees from Alvogen’s Macedonia office teamed up to raise awareness about osteoporosis, a potentially fatal disease characterized by a reduction in bone mineral density, when the bones become less rigid and are vulnerable to breaking.
The Alvogen team organized a march called “Caution, Osteoporosis”, which was aimed to raising awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection of osteoporosis, which affects millions of people worldwide.
The march took place through the centre of Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, and involved Alvogen employees, as well as osteoporosis sufferers and members of the National Society of Physiatrists.
The event got national media attention of those who were interested in the purpose of this march, the organizer and the supporters of the march.
“At Alvogen we fight for what we believe in”, commented Alexander Popov, Country Manager of Alvogen in Macedonia. “Osteoporosis affects a growing number of people around the world, yet early diagnosis is key to effective treatment. This march was a great success in sending a message to the Macedonian public about the need to make lifestyle changes to minimize the chances of developing this illness. These include regular exercises, having a healthy and balanced diet and avoiding alcohol, smoking and caffeine”.
